Santa’s Workshop

Over the past 2 weeks, we have been busy preparing for our store opening. Students have been actively producing products for our Christmas Market on Dec 17th. Here are just a few reflections from our busy classroom elves!

Collaboration:

Ms. Goslin’s class is collaborating with Mr. O’s class for our social entrepreneur project. Collaborating is good for us because it helps us step outside of our comfort zones and make new friends. Everybody made a logo for our company and we worked on it for about a week. After we looked at all the logos we said what we liked and disliked and we chose one. After that we kicked off by separating into groups to make handmade stuff like hats, wood cookies and posters. - Emma

Woodwork:

The people who did the sanding started it all, and they made sure that nobody got splinters. We have done a lot of work, and we do our work with a lot of respect because, with every block we stand, we remember the people who we are helping. We will have enough money to boost the Ottawa Food Bank with everything we make. A family of four equals $16 and you can buy two cards and feed a family of four. - Vinny

Watercards:

I learned how to blend watercolors with water. Then I used a marker to add details and to do the outlines. To make it look neat and it makes it look good. They were only $5 and were the first cards you could buy. They look so good and they are made with love and care. They make great Christmas gifts. - Sofia

Christmas Cards:

I learned how to make good Christmas cards. Once I learned how they were really easy to make. We make Christmas cards for parents to raise money for the Ottawa Food Bank to help the people in need, so that the people in need have food to eat. We focus on trying to make the business a success by selling Christmas cards and other stuff that are interesting but the Christmas cards are ONLY for $5. It's really detailed and made by hard working students. - Moh

Star Ornaments:

I learned how to make pretty star ornaments. First, I started with some wood and nails. You print out a star and lightly put the nails in, you then use a hammer and put the nails on each corner. You use string to make a star and wrap it around like a star. You drill a hole on the top, then you grab a string and tie it to the hole so you can hang it on your tree. I love making star ornaments, they look pretty and they are a fun craft. They are ONLY $8 for a big one and $5 for a small one. - Ellegra
