Building Bridges: Kicking Off Our Social Entrepreneur Project with Inspiration from Last Year’s Leaders
Share
Today, we kicked off the start of our Social Entrepreneur Project with a special visit from six students who were part of last year’s group, Everybody Counts. They were so excited to come back to St. Gregory and share their experiences with us, and you could really feel their passion for the project!
The students talked about how important it is to work together as a team, using collaboration and critical thinking skills to move the project forward. They explained how they developed their communication skills, not just with each other but also with adults in the community.
One funny moment was when they talked about working with our mentor, Jeremy. They said he’s amazing but joked that at first, he might seem a little intimidating because of the way he looks deeply into your eyes! They also mentioned how it might feel uncomfortable at first when Ms. Goslin puts us into random groups all the time, but they promised it’s worth it because it helps everyone feel more connected in the end.
The group shared how the Social Entrepreneur Program helped break down social barriers in their class and how, by the end of the journey, they had all become close friends. They were so excited to tell us about their experience being on live TV at Rogers and participating in the Youth UnTapped Showcase at the MAC at the end of the year.
Each student highlighted their favorite part of the project, and their excitement was contagious! It made us all feel really inspired to continue this leadership project this year.
